Visit to Ariel Sharon Park

Flat-topped mountain near to Tel Aviv, the Hiriya, is one of the most characteristic places around the city. After over 35 years of functioning as a landfill, the place has been turned into waste disposal facility, educational centre and an ecological park. Green Team members went there to lear more about waste disposal and reuse.

Greenpeace Campaign Against Coca-Cola

Following successful anti-Coca-Cola campaign of Greenpeace UK, chapters of this organisation started similar campaigns worldwide. Also Greenpeace Israel started its efforts to push for change in company’s policies. Green Team members joined Greenpeace in some of the actions.

EMIS at TAU Science Night

At EMIS, we try to take education well beyond the classroom. The same values shares Tel Aviv University, which recently organised TAU Science Night. EMIS as one of a few external organisations was invited to hold its station during the event and Green Team was representing the school there.

Food

Agriculture is one of the major contributors to global emissions of greenhouse gases and other types of pollution. Moreover, vast quantities of land are used for growing animals’ food and breeding them. Despite producing tremendous amount of food worldwide, the food crisis is present due to high rate of waste and uneven distribution of nutrition. There are many ways, in which one can decrease his environmental footprint related to food.

Visit in the Knesset – Water Crisis in Israel

Once a year, Knesset, the Israeli parliament, holds a day that is devoted to the environmental issues. Many environmental movements in Israel come to the Knesset, speak out in committee meetings and advocate for sustainable actions. This year, Keren and Adee from Green Team joined and went to the Knesset with an Israeli environmental movement Green Course.
